Enhancements of our job shop scheduling software

As of today we have rolled out a new version of our job shop scheduling software to all active accounts. This means to all customers and trial users. Of course, the highlight is the new Execute Mode, which I covered in an extra blog post. With today's shipment, we decided to add some further extras (besides the usual bug fixing) on top of the Execute Mode. The extras are the integration of a support chat box into the application, enhancements of the job and task report, and more Excel upload power.

Execute Mode: Job shop scheduling meets manufacturing execution

In my last blog post in January, I spoke about our roadmap. I informed you that we put some obvious things on hold to spend some time and energy on the not so obvious facets of building and running a product like just plan it. Now, I am excited to share the general availability of a long awaited (obvious) functionality: we call it the Execute Mode. The Execute Mode is available for all PRO and ENTERPRISE customers (click to compare the pricing plans).

On the list of ideas we got from all our customers and users, the capability introduced with the Execute Mode is the - by far - most prominent feature request. It enables you to easily integrate information from the shopfloor into your schedule and empowers you to keep your schedule current in a straightforward way. With the Execute Mode, job shop scheduling meets manufacturing execution.

This blog post is meant to be an introduction into the Execute Mode. It is not the core documentation of it. Within the blog post, I reference a lot of additional learning and enablement material.

Some words on the road-map for our job shop scheduling software

I know that for both software companies and software users a road-map is a big deal. It clarifies what the development team is working on. It shows (prospective) customers which functional enhancements to expect going forward. Of course, we also have a road map for our job shop scheduling software just plan it. Indeed, we have a clear picture of the functional enhancements we will put in place next. Yet, as we moved into the new year, we've allowed ourselves to stop the execution of the road-map for a few days. Here is why we did this, what we're doing now, and what we're going to do next.

Final 2017 update: more production scheduling power & learning resources

The year is approaching its end, and I am happy to share with you the final product update for 2017. We just shipped a new version of just plan it, providing two new capabilities for (almost) all of our users. First and foremost, we added some new production scheduling power to the software for all PRO and ENTERPRISE clients by enhancing the "set sequence number" dialog. The good news is that you can call this dialog now also from the Resource View. Second, today we're launching the Learn View which provides a lot of tutorial and enablement content for trial users, but also for beginners and for those who want to refresh their knowledge.

Enhanced reporting capabilities for job shop scheduling software

After the redesign of our job shop scheduling software, of which I wrote in my last blog post, we now seem to get back to our "usual" way of shipping new versions in shorter intervals. On Tuesday, we enhanced the reporting capabilities of just plan it, and also improved the filtering in all template-related dialogues. This blog post is a quick round-up of all enhancements that are now live for all customers and users.

Dialog redesign and improved calendar exception handling

In a nutshell: we used the past months for a major redesign of our just plan it visual scheduling software. This redesign was primarily geared towards optimizing how the software works behind the scenes. However, as we touched almost every line of code, we decided to also use this opportunity to enhance many of the dialogs. Doing so, we improved the way you can define and deal with calendar exceptions. This post is about introducing the visible things that changed with the current update of the visual scheduling software. It also is meant to give you some transparency on what comes next.

Two Goodies For Our Job Shop Manufacturing Software Users

In the ongoing process of improving and enhancing our just plan it job shop manufacturing software, we spent the past 2 to 3 weeks mostly on internal housekeeping work. This means, we corrected a few bugs that had been reported by our users and also did some code optimizations. In addition to this, we also added two new features that are live now. On the one hand, we enhanced the filter capabilities and on the other hand you now can copy a template.
