Written by Kerstin Sieckmann | May 22, 2024

In our earlier blog post, we explored the various strategies for prioritizing jobs in job shop scheduling from a theoretical perspective. In this blog post, we will showcase a video demonstration of how seamlessly you can apply these strategies with our production scheduling software, just plan it.

Within just plan it, there are multiple ways to adjust the sequence order, hence priority, of jobs in the job list. You have the flexibility to do it manually and automatically:

Manually:

  • move the job up or down the list by simple drag & drop
  • change the sequence number to re-prioritize the jobs
  • fix the sequence number of a job, to exclude from re-prioritizing
  • freeze resources to stick with the tasks of a certain job

Automatically:

Choose one or more custom criteria in the "job sequence calculation" function and let the scheduling engine schedule the job list automatically. For example, you can select criteria such as:

  • due date
  • due date + customer
  • due date + customer + part type

You also decide the order in which these criteria are combined.

Watch our scheduling specialist, Dave, demonstrate how you can seamlessly utilize a variety of options to prioritize jobs using just plan it. This video is sure to spark ideas on how to implement your specific prioritization strategy for your production schedule.
